Awhile in the line
Davie tells me no more bars deserve our simple proximity
Well, God came down on Davie that night like electric light on water
Shimmering and golden
Davie was like mama's daughter every Sunday morning before church
Dazzling and beautiful and golden
Cooking by mama's side while the smell of the gas stove sings to me, son, of family
Davie could have told me he was an angel and I would have heard him out
Mountains and sea and sky mean nothing to the eye without light
And that's what Davie was to me
We had stood right there, right off of Elementary Ave
Right next to a street lamp (Where I saw God)
And we had waited for twenty minutes to get in
The funny thing is
Davie was upset
