Behold my victim in throes of death
His limbs stretched on suffocation
Rain anoints his ragged flesh
Staunching open wounds bled of grief
A shrill of dread unnerves my soul
Behold the face stilled to its lifeless mask
Bruised rents traced across contorted features
His lips part around grimacing despair
Vomiting an utterance I cannot comprehend
Shuddering movement ripples the skin
Of life's remnant regretfully surfaced
There dissipated on the gloom
Bone leers through shredded sinews
Imperial garb of expiation's king
His torment over the body slumps pinned to its scaffold
Opened arms directed earthwards embracing the grave
Scalded in the dead man's gaze murk momentary clears
With eternal triumph glimmered behind his eyes
Launched through darkness upon irresistible destruction
Erstwhile trivialities lay betrayed
Guilt and grief stripped of menace
Subverted solitary instincts
Discovering oceanic sympathy
Encompassed with death to realise ineffable peace
