Alan Ballard - G O Lyrics

G O
I've got an old, beat up, banged up pick-up truck
It's in the driveway, it don't look like much
It's dents and dings and scratches
More than I want to touch up
The reason I keep it around
Is underneath the hood
There's a 350 4-barrel, carburator bored out
When I step on the gas it makes a beau- ti- ful sound
I woke the neighbors, I woke this town
Everybody can hear me, as I peel out
I GO , shift it into drive and let the wheels roll
I GO, turn the radio on, and put it in cruise control
It's Friday evening, and the traffic is a creeping
And I got a funny feeling, it's going to take awhile to get home
Splits in the dash, cracks in the glass
Holes in the seat from a cigarette ash
This trucks has a past, I bought it knowing that
Five different owners and I'll be the last
Well I was waiting in traffic just thinking bout that
Looked in the mirror and took a glance
Behind me there was a car coming on really fast
Well they might as well had their blindfold on
They didn't see me, but the closer they come
I could see they were in deep conversation on their cell phone
There were cars on both sides, stopped in there tracks
One last ditch effort to avoid this crash
One split second, I had to react
Wait too long and I'll miss the chance
So I revved up the motor and I let it roar
And as it roared, laid down on the horn
I said a quick prayer unto my Lord
Then I yelled out the door
Let's G O, shift it into drive and let the wheels roll
Let's G O, just pay attention, turn off your cell phone
And G O, don't go to fast, don't go to slow
Whatever you do, turn off your cell phone and
G O
