I remember summer
Days under the awning
Crushing little rocks
With bigger rounds ones
Sometimes I would miss them
And crush my little finger
Bulging to the size of a grape
Never stopped me trying
To crush as many little pebbles
As I could lay my hands on
Into dust and powder
To rub across the parchment paper
And I wonder
If this restless mind will yield
To all the beauty
That surrounds me
And I wonder how time just stops on a dime
With your arms around me
Simple as the crow flies
They say about two love birds
But if flying was this easy
For everyone around us
We would all just hover together
Above the urge to destroy
But 40 hour work week
Has got to get old sometimes
And I wonder
If this restless mind will yield
To all the beauty
That surrounds me
And I wonder how time just stops on a dime
With your arms around me
