There's a fog that lifts
And a dew that sits
On the slender leaves of a tree
And each blade of grass
Damp but drying fast
Are memories out of reach
The sun evaporatin' with its indifferent warmth
The moisture in the air
And so providing both time and thirst
And our lives to measure the pair
There's a light that shone
Turned sunset blonde the curtains in your room
A subtle change made day to day
Each and every afternoon
Though I can't control growing old
I appreciate each change
I'd stay alive to watch another sunrise
In that summer place
