In a quiet room inside my head
Are all the words I wish I'd said
And all the things that might go wrong
Where I am weak and they are strong
I build a structure, tall and grand
On shaky and uncertain sand
Each card's a doubt, each one a dread
A fragile roof above my head
I'm living in a house of cards
Protected by the flimsiest of guards
One little breath, one touch of fate
And it will all disintegrate
Control is reaching out a hand
To see if one card can withstand
A gentle poke, a simple test
To put the terror to its rest
You can't avoid the architect
But you can choose what you erect
Don't build with "what ifs," frail and thin
Let some reality come in
Build with courage, brick by brick
A foundation, solid, strong, and thick
So when the winds of fear do blow
You have a safer place to go
I touch a card, it flutters down
And then another, all around
And soon I'm sitting on the floor
No house of cards here anymore
Just me, the room, the morning light
And everything is gonna be alright.
