As I stare at the flames and feel the heat
There's a comfort that warms from within the places that we've laid to rest
Starting stiff a smooth finish
Crackles over the top of the rumble
An old face sinking in
As a memory lost in the distance
With the wind comes new life
We share the air as a way to sustain
The flickering of the tips
Ends the cycle extending to the sky
As I stare at the flames hope starts to sink
With lines drawn in the sand past the regrets
Nightfall from above
Charred into remains
Starving for silence
Ignoring all complaints
Ends the transition
From earth to the air
