Father we couldn't see
Being stripped of our dignity
You were homeless once
When you had left mom
It's not about the past
Nothing we had did last
Now I write poetry
And mourn death around me
I try to walk the streets
Constantly hoping
But my head is bowed
To the darkened river
I wish I could forget about it all
But the stain of the past remains
Father we couldn't breathe
That last text you sent me
Said you were coming home
But then you didn't come
Father I wish I'd seen your face
Before you passed
I hope the memories sit in ocean garlands of flowers
Father we couldn't breathe
That last text you sent me
Said you were coming home
But then you didn't come
Father I wish I'd seen your face
Before you passed
I hope the memories sit in ocean garlands of flowers
