Lord, give us the grace to die sweetly
Not holding anything of this world dear
Humbling our hearts to walk meekly
So that Christ from within may appear
I know that my old self has died
Crucified up - on the cross with Christ
That the body of sin might be destroyed
Freed from sin, no more a slave, I'm full of joy
So I carry my cross, every day I call loss
Every thing that I once did esteem
And with each gift of breath, I put to death
The desires of my flesh so I'm clean
Prepared for every good work you bring
Throughout Your life, You demonstrated
The yielded will we are to offer
On Your Father's commands always waited
Though a Son, You learned obedience through suffering
So I carry my cross, every day I call loss
Every thing that I once did esteem
And with each gift of breath, I put to death
The desires of my flesh so I'm clean
Prepared for every good work you bring
You beg us to abstain from fleshly lusts
For these things wage war against our souls
And look instead unto Him we can trust
Bow our heads, bow our knees, give Him control
So we look unto Christ, and we fix our eyes
On the inheritance that lays in store
He is worthy above every death that we die
For the One who has promised is sure
He is God, our eternal reward
