Tangled lights and boxes full of ornaments as old as I am
The tree is looking awkward, bare and leaning to the side
The needles prick our fingers and then fall into the carpet
And we're happy just to know this year it's only you and I
The cards that line the mantle share the names that we've forgotten
All the unfamiliar faces now a memory in time
Fathers in their Sunday suits are shaking hands with smiles of welcome
The choir shuffles in while someone somewhere dims the lights
Both of us are wondering if maybe we should come more often
Time we set aside for just the holiest of nights
I just wanted you to know
You remind me of Christmas in Ohio
Merry Christmas
