Brendan Michael Smith - 'Til The Wheels Fall Off Lyrics

I was raised by truck drivers and nurses who fed me well.
They raised me right.
I got into a little trouble when I was still a young boy.
You know I could never back down from a fight.

Somehow someway I made it through without too much shame
To my family's name.
I never caused nobody much harm.
But the road I was on it didn't seem to be too awful long
Til' I slowed things down.
Started gazing up at the stars.

Driving late at night was my safe haven.
It still is today but you can bet I am a different man.
I still drive that pick up truck my father gave me.
You know his words still ring on in my head.

Drive til' the wheels fall off.
You might break down. You might get lost.
Just take it slow through the snow, the rain, the fog.
Keep driving til' the wheels fall off.

My grandaddy's on both sides worked the highway.
The hum of them 18 wheels heard loud for most their life.
You know my grandma did it too just to pay her way through school
But those years were full of bitterness and strife.

Somehow someway they always seemed to manage,
Though it sure wasn't easy on their kids.
Because being raised by truck drivers and nurses
Sure isn't the grandest of lifestyles that exist.

So keep driving til' the wheels fall off.
You might break down. You might get lost.
Take it slow through the snow, the rain, the fog.
Keep driving til' the wheels fall off.

By the time that I turned 18
I was determined to break
Free of the mold they had built for me.
So I joined a band, I got in a van hauling a 10 foot trailer
All across the land and drove around the country
Helping heal sick people for free.
In the end the lifestyle that I was living
It wasn't all that different from the one I had seen.
Driving the roads and healing souls, man that's my destiny.

So let's drive til' the wheels fall off.
You might break down, might get lost.
Just take it slow through the snow, the rain the fog
Keep driving til the wheels fall off.
I'll drive til' the wheels fall off.
