It was early in the morning, shining bright was the sun
I woke to some sounds in the window, it was melody-birds having fun
I was walkin' out of my room while the janitor was mopping the floor
He told me to watch my step, 'cause it was wet, then I walked out the door
I was groovin' down the alley to go to the bar
Standing by a trash can was an old man smoking a cigar
He asked me for a dollar, I gave him twenty-four
But I knew all he would do was drink then drink some more
I could never be what she wants me to be
My life is just pretzels and daiquiris
And I don't know what else she sees in me
But pretzels and daiquiris
I went into The Hut, that's the name of the bar
I saw a good girl in the corner playing a baby blue guitar
She had blonde/brunette hair that dangled to her curve
She looked and winked at me and I began to lose my nerve
Her eyes matched the guitar, the guitar matched her shape
Then I knew if this night went right we would stay up late
Late became a little later, I found out she was a Greenpeace prolificator
And much more than the birds and the bees, she
She cared about the grass and the trees
And somehow she still cared about me
I could never be what she wants me to be
My life is just pretzels and daiquiris
And I don't know what else she sees in me
But pretzels and daiquiris
