The dogwood petals fluttered down
Like some organic ticker-tape parade
As we strolled up that broken path
Into that sideways house we'd made
That sanctuary where we stayed
Until the fall
You watch me watch you brush your hair
A thousand crooked pictures hide the wall
Electron moths orbit porch lights
An ocean sound of swaying trees
Voluptuous gardenia breeze
Until the fall
I need to find new souvenirs
Cause these aren't working anymore
That future's long passed away from me
And my reminiscences
Ain't what they used to be, oh
I know there was a reason then
But I've forgotten what it was
Like twisting a top to watch it spin
The question is not if
It's gonna stop, but when
We twirled and spun and tumbled out
And left a little harder than we came
A lot of it was beautiful
Some parts there's no use thinking of
I'd like to think that it was love
Until the fall
