A flower trampled on the sidewalk
Her beauty bending in the breeze
Although she didn't belong there
She had nowhere else to be
A boy climbing a picket fence
To reach a long-lost love
Stumbled and fell before her
And picked himself back up
His eyes were filled with wonder
As he marvelled at the sight
Of the queen among the roses
Seeming to beg for help that night
She saw a dirt-stained hand extend towards her
Until the hand began to bleed
She begged him to push past the pain and hold her
Letting out a silent scream
He wasn't ready for commitment
Wasn't ready for the pain
He left the rose
And walked away
