Dave Bell - Desperado Lyrics

Dave Bell - Desperado Lyrics

When the rain lashed down and the thunder roared
There were six desperadoes in the hands of the lord
Ahead of the posse, but with not much time
Just a short length ahead of the hangman's line
They found a craggy rock with a cave inside
Each and every man prepared to die
Some crossed themselves with the catholic sign
Bad Bill Rogers called the sheriff a swine

As the storm grew wilder and the wind did scream
They were hoping and praying it was just a bad dream
You can't turn back the clock and change what's been done
And there ain't no hiding from the law man's gun
Well, the storm passed by thought they were home and dry
But the sheriff came and hired an Indian guide
Up with the sun and out with the lark
The sheriff's winchester gave an instant bark
The lead rained down from every side
The posse had the edge with a sudden surprise
The sheriff's rifles were a brand new batch
And a Colt .45 was not a good match

In six minutes flat there were six dead men
With no one to weep and no one to pen
The posse entered town to a rousing cheer
The townsfolk stood them a night of good beer
