I didnt drop the week at the door
+
It followed me in just not as loud
+
Still wearing it loose on my shoulders
+
Like a jacket I forgot I had
+
Street signs blink in half sentences
+
Nobody rushing to finish them
+
Im not done Im not delayed
+
Just moving in a different shade
+
No clean break
+
No escape
+
Just the tension
+
Changing shape
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
But its lighter than it used to be
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
It dont fit like it did on me
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
Buttons loose I can finally breathe
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
But its letting go of me
+
I see people shedding it all at once
+
Laughing loud like a sudden jump
+
I take mine off in smaller ways
+
Minute by minute phrase by phrase
+
Bass dont hurry drums dont push
+
Every beat gives me a cushion
+
I dont need to feel brand new
+
I just like feeling less used
+
If I dont force it
+
It falls away
+
Even weight
+
Gets tired someday
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
But its softer every time it speaks
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
I dont answer when it tries to lead
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
Not a burden just a memory
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
And its finally losing grip
+
I thought rest meant removing everything
+
Turns out it starts by loosening one thing
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
But its sliding off naturally
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
Nothing pulling hard on me
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
No announcement no relief
+
Still wearing the week still wearing the week
+
Thats how friday meets me
+
