DJAYEYE - Waterin Way Lyrics

DJAYEYE - Waterin Way Lyrics

Woke up early on a Saturday morn,
Got my old rod and reel, ready to feel reborn,
Down to the creek where the fish like to bite,
Thought I'd spend the day out of mind,
Out of sight.

The sun was shining,
Not a cloud in the sky,
I threw out my line and watched it drift on by,
But then I heard a rustle in the brush,
A bark so loud, my heart it crushed

I wasn't lookin' for a ole hound dog that day,
Just some peace and quiet, down the waterin way,
But here he came with his floppy ole ears,
A stray hound dog approachin slow an near
With those sad eyes, and a tail held high,
He sat right down, looked me straight in the eye.
I didn't catch a fish, but I caught somethin' real,
A love from an old hound dog, well I guess I got the better end of the deal

I threw him a piece of jerky from my old lunch sack,
He ate it right up then crawled on right back,
He sat by my side, like he knew the score,
We were two lonesome ole dogs who'd be lonesome no more.

We sat there together, watchin' the world as it spin,
He looked at me as if we'd always been kin,
I didn't need to catch the big one that day,
Just a stray hound dog with a little time to stay.

Now every morning, we head on down to that same ole fishin spot,
Not a dang fish to be had but we both still happy for what we got.

I wasn't lookin' for a ole red dog that day,
Just some peace and quiet, down the waterin way,
But here he came with his floppy ole ears,
A stray hound dog approachin slow an near
With those sad eyes, and a tail held high,
He sat right down, looked me straight in the eye.
I didn't catch a fish, but I caught somethin' real,
A love from an old hound dog, well I guess I got the better end of the deal

So now it's just me and big ole Fred,
He sighs happily and tilts his big ole head
Cause he knows we were blessed
From that day on that we met
Instead of a big fish that day
I caught my best friend
