Name Origin:
After experimenting with band names, such as 'Childish Intentions' and 'Stricken', they decided on Evanescence, which means "disappearance" or "fading away" (from the word evanesce, which means "to disappear").

• Amy Lee took classical piano lessons for nine years and wrote her first song when when she was eleven, entitled "Eternity of the Remorse".

• Lee wrote the song Call Me When You're Sober about Shaun Morgan of Seether, who she was in a relationship with from 2003 to 2005.

• Lee had a younger sister who died in 1987 at the age of three from an unidentified illness. The songs Hello and Like You were reported to have been written for her late sister
