I guess I'm moving
The thought just crossed my mind today
It's time to pack my bags and get away
But I'm still thinking
About the town I'll leave behind
I was never good at long goodbyes
That country house with purple doors
The woods outside I'd go explore
Fires lit beneath the summer sky
Flying down the highway
Packed in tight
Looking for direction
Reaching for new heights
I've got no expectations
Not sure where to go
I just hope that when I get there then I'll know
I'll ride the subway
Cold and grey with screeching wheels
Up above the buildings tower over me
I'm on 5th Avenue
When's my train?
Don't have a clue
Concrete runs for miles beneath my feet
Hotdog stands and taxicabs
Does it always smell this bad?
Still I feel the rhythm of the street
Flying down the highway
Packed in tight
Looking for direction
Reaching for new heights
I've got no expectations
Not sure where to go
I just hope that when I get there then I'll know
I'm not used to skyscrapers blocking out the sun
And I'm not used to all the cigarettes
But maybe it's ok; you know I'm not the only one
You know that it's so easy to forget
Bitter words and second thoughts
I overthink this quite a lot
But I know, it's just what I need
Flying down the highway
Packed in tight
Looking for direction
Reaching for new heights
I've got no expectations
Not sure where to go
I just hope that when I get there then I'll know
Then I'll know
Then I'll know
Then I'll know
