[ Featuring The Stonemasons ]
It's been a trek to get here I'm a little tired and dim
Like the barlight that's fandangling there on the bottle's rim
But I will gain what consolation comes from sharing griefs with Him
Who is the company of hope beyond it all
In May not long ago I made an echoing mistake
That made a mother's wail resound soon after I'd applied the brake
So what to do but pray the Blessed Mother hurry for His sake
To take Him to the hope beyond it all
Of those who struggle bearing weight that some might weightless live
There are many strain their grieving through a tight resentful sieve
But there's some whose faith provides them with the courage to forgive
As they're waiting on the hope beyond it all
Now there's a mother who is grieving for her son who's dead and gone
And there's a father working daily all his fingers to the bone
And somewhere between a boy who's hoping for a girl to call his own
And they're all waiting on the hope beyond it all
Sing has there been no merit to our days of drawing breath
Have all our yesterdays just lighted fools the way to dusty death
Or dare we hope there's some foundation buried underneath the depths
As we're waiting on the hope beyond it all
I do not ask to know the things that Job had never known
Of Him who makes a living heart of ours once made of stone
No I only ask Christ's friendship so that I won't be alone
As I'm waiting on the hope beyond it all
Don't wait for me I'll be here for another minute more
A little silence and another drink together might restore
Whatever lingers of the joys I have from Him whom I adore
As I'm waiting on the hope beyond it all
It's been a trek to get here I'm a little tired and dim
Like the barlight that's fandangling there on the bottle's rim
But I will gain what consolation comes from sharing griefs with Him
Who is the company of hope beyond it all
The company of hope beyond it all
The company of hope beyond it all
