He reached down and grabbed the vice grips
That replaced the missing lever on his chair
Just another broken thing needing repair
Not so long ago he'd craved some peace and quiet in his life
Turns out quiet gave no peace nor made life fair
She said she had to find herself and then said he had to leave
That she hungered for a life that she was missing
After all the trials and pain they'd shared
And the sacred vows that they made
Promises to God that she's dismissing
He remembered when the kids were young
And smiled as he relived all the mayhem
But it only amplified how much he missed them
They had made a pact of loyalty, for better or for worse
But she didn't seem to care when she betrayed him
She said she had to find herself and then said he had to leave
That she hungered for a life that she was missing
After all the trials and pain they'd shared
And the sacred vows that they made
Promises to God that she's dismissing
He had dreamed of growing old together
And they schemed about the things that they'd do someday
Now he's living in room he rents out weekly
Together they were more than each and family was sacred
Now the highlight of his week is taco Tuesday
She said she had to find herself and then said he had to leave
That she hungered for a life that she was missing
After all the trials and pain they'd shared
And the sacred vows that they made
Promises to God that she's dismissing
While he was sharing all his dreams she wasn't listening
