What's the point of a word, if it doesn't build you up
And what's the point of a life, if nobody lives enough
We were born to go to school, to get a job, to make enough
So that when our time is up, we'll be defined by the stuff
That we've desired and acquired, and passed on to the next
Cuz life is just a cycle of pursuit until death
And we're all just machines of biology powered by a breath
With an organ in our chest, that accounts for our feelings
And a muscle in our head, that presents us with reason
And even though there's nothing beyond this that provides me with meaning
I'm still held to a higher standard than the animals I'm eating
There's no penalty for when animals kill each other, it's just natural law
But if I kill another person I'm punished because my actions are wrong
And one might say it's that way to ensure that humans thrive
But if that's the case, what gives us the value to survive
How can a chance of clustered cells posses any meaning at all
Where's the purpose in a life that's only a few years long
Let me tell you
There's so much more to us all then just the things that we own
We're all connected to God through our individual souls
And this connection is a reflection of His presence in us
It's the purpose and the meaning we've been completely depleted of
So I refuse to believe that I'm a product of the earth
To the earth my body returns, but my soul is my worth
Cuz Before time was the design of a God, who created
Consecrated, and redeemed us, It's Jesus
The reason that world never receives us
As it leads us to other gods who serve us or please us
It's Jesus
Who holds true when the lies try to deceive us
And relieve us of the burden that eternally defeats us
It's Jesus
Who saves us even though he doesn't need us
He's not just my obsession, He's immeasurably more
In Him I find the ultimate, unwavering truth. Where's yours
