On the highest mountain ridge
Like nails driven into a withered old tree
I've stood through this long dark night
What prayers what tears have I shed?
Here on this lofty ridge
My garment fluttering in the clear wind
I sing alone still longing
For a brighter tomorrow to arrive.
Ah this morning breaks
A faint bell echoes through my silent heart
Winding along veins turned dry
Stirring hope where coldness once lived.
Even if I close my eyes
A sky in bloom appears instead
By the candlelight of my soul
O trembling star of the night hide away
Here on this lofty ridge
My garment fluttering in the clear wind
I sing alone still longing
For a brighter tomorrow to arrive
Warm sunlight rises on my open brow
Like an October dream come true
Parched lips remember a forgotten flute
Where birds rejoice at the edge of clouds.
Deer and rabbits in peaceful grace
Decline a single fragrant bud
As the world awakens in gentle harmony.
Here on this lofty ridge
My garment dancing in the shining breeze
I stand and sing in solitude
Holding fast to a hope yet unseen
Yes here on this lofty ridge
I lift my voice to the winds so free
Alone but still believing
A better future will come to be
