The feasting at Kincora
In the court of Brian Boru
Was lavish in its splendour
And splendid through and through
The Chieftains of all Ireland
To this feasting came
And you would also find there
The leading Norse and Danes
Lavish were the quantities
And quality of the food
Along with wines and spirits
To elevate the mood
No glass was ever empty
No platter ever bare
But every guest was offered
His fill of the finest fare
And, here, Brian showed his genius
For, when all had feasted well
He bade the finest women
Show their legs to the foreign men
The fathers of these Norse and Danes
By force had taken brides
But now the feasting table
Was the start of love's alliance
And, thus, Brian demonstrated
That there was no need for war
Our girls were wild for Viking men
But under Irish law
And it was Brian's plan for peace
That would win him great renown
Were it not that the king of Leinster
Conspired to bring him down
