MC Chic - 16 Bars (feat. Duane Jackson) Lyrics

MC Chic - 16 Bars (feat. Duane Jackson) Lyrics

Mic check! Mic check!
CHIC
Someone else on the track too
This time it's all bars
16 bars
Actually, maybe more
Let's go
Let's switch back the clocks I'm about to tell you a tale
About how this all began, back when I used to fail
I needed some change cause my skills made no cents
Now I'm banking on these notes I make to close debts
I'm broke less than I used to be, I fixed myself
When I chose to make it to the top, convinced myself
That I could rap back in sixth grade, was a bit lame
All the garbage that I wrote then inspires to this day
So that's how it started and I wrote every rhyme
That I could think of until I could feel the hope, I'd be fine
Should be banned on the tracks, was dope every time
If fools could make it, well then, I should go get me mine
So, I said that I would, started chopping flows up
Working to be somebody that now you should know bruh
I wanted the bread
But unlike these "dough" nuts who sound like a vacuum full of dirt
I just don't suck
Still no one listened, they thought it was dumb
So, I practiced every rhyme I heard, then I rapped one
In front of the crowd and they all went speechless
Asking "how'd you learn to speak so fast and breathe less?"
I feel blessed now that I knit each line with passion
Sewing these rhymes, like seeds I grow, reach heights from rapping
I don't see why folks leave my songs behind go seek out
These rappers who can't even spell or define what rap is
16 bars is all I need
To make a change in this game and drop some heat
16 bars is all I need
To make you see what good rap needs to be
16 bars is all it takes
To layer the words right and to change the game
16 bars is all it takes
That's all it takes
If I've got to be honest, I thought I really wouldn't make it
Part of the problem was I was aiming to be famous
I was writing like a dictionary, boring and no fun
Just words and no play, with no depth, and no puns
Started to rap bars like working a candy shop
Like 50 to massacre rappers, now I simply can't be stopped
I body all the anomalies on this beat honestly as I chalk out lines
Won't need the cops
MC in the game, I play to give y'all a halo
I've turned around the OK punches so I can KO
These kids need a teacher I'ma mold them like Plato
No mom's spaghetti I just spit sauce like Prego
I started this fire so I can call in the heatwave
You caught that? Then cool, let me fall back to leave place
To call that sick dude who would call Dax a deep fake
And rock this beat, 'cause I've brought in the DJ
That's right I'm back on the scene
If you feeling some way here's your chance to compete
And the second you move I'ma grab and I squeeze
Cause I nicknamed the one I pull master of reach
He's a boss at the tag game
Cost what you can't make
Now the games mine or else its off with you amscray
I'm the motherf****** talk of ya fanbase
You might as well just walk into last place
I'm in it like this is my moment
And I ain't gonna stop like I did it before its
A problem to see but I'm giving you closure
Cause now you gon' know there's a difference before us
I'm nice, well you just tryna be that
That's life homie, you gon' have to reap that
Every obstacle I see I'm finna leap past
I'ma reach the top and then proceed to put my seat back
16 bars is all I need
To make a change in this game and drop some heat
16 bars is all I need
To make you see what good rap needs to be
16 bars is all it takes
To layer the words right and to change the game
16 bars is all it takes
