MDC - Step Into My Shoes Lyrics
Official

I wish you could look in through my eyes and tell me what you see
Wish you could step into my shoes and be who I'm trynna be
Maybe you'd see a different person maybe not someone so bleak
Or at least when I look into mirrors that's what I always see
I really do my best to just be a better person
But it seems like everyday I wake up a different version
I'm supposed to be an example a leader not a burden
But I fall and get back up for every L I take I'm learning
But it don't feel like it's enough there's still too much to teach me
I knew learning was a process sometimes it ain't that easy
I don't write sad songs for you to listen out of pity
I write it cuz it's my life and I don't know if y'all believe me
I'm just an honest man I don't know what else to do
Because I spill my heart on songs and then pass them on to you
Find an excuse to why I didn't go and pop off with the views
Hard to view unless you come try and step into my shoes
Wish you could step into my shoes
Tell me then what would you do
If it were up to you
See things the way I do
I know you would get me too
Know you can't see it on my face
The way I've been these days
The things you've heard me say
The way I couldn't stay
Just cuz I was too afraid
I got asked the other day why I keep on writing music
I've never felt that way before to me it was confusing
Is it the words? Maybe the tone or maybe the style I'm using
Or maybe it's just me and the way I keep me moving
Maybe it's the fact that I'm not cool and no one knows me
Is that gonna be it? Is social life gonna control me
I'm out here writing music for anyone else that's feeling lonely
That's why I wrote Relate my emotions I was throwing
Got me sitting in my room I look back and press rewind
Look back into my life to all the things I left behind
Man these were the times when I was the one of a kind
Man those were the times back to times when I was blind
Back when I got everything that I thought that I deserved
I've walked to hell and back that's why I give props to myself
And even though it's hurt and bruised this soul I'd never sell
But without looking through my eyes that's something you'd never tell
Wish you could step into my shoes
Tell me then what would you do
If it were up to you
See things the way I do
I know you would get me too
Know you can't see it on my face
The way I've been these days
The things you've heard me say
The way I couldn't stay
Just cuz I was too afraid
2019 was especially hard for me
The whole thing was filled with anger and anxiety
My heart and my mind were separate I wasn't me
Like I was flying in my plane but someone else was piloting
Just wanna be myself but there's a chance it's way too late
Do I stop or keep going that's always my debate
Maybe I should just keep going and leave it up to fate
But that's something no one understands it's exactly what I hate
