All life drifting far too wide of the course as drawn
Fresh thought goes a longer way than its time allows
This year, like a last goodbye, is a tear in a river to the sea
Mine flow in mindful row, not blind to the curling rhyme
Wherever the trail leads us
Must weather our failing trust
Assumption erroneous
Bring us the hope
Spare us the pain
Throw us the rope
Pull us through the rain
No cry shall go unheard, rings the hollow vow
Cold kings and their soldiers have made
Over brave souls' graves
Years pass and a future fails to provide for dreams
Shortfalls and long memories inform the head of steam
Wherever this trail leads us
Hearts weather love's failing trust
Of assumptions erroneous
Tears to rise where spirits fall
Souls appear in disguise
No fear at all
Oh life, have we come this far to be turned around?
When there's no going back in time, by light or sound
This thought is forward bound
