I roamed the street with my usual pack of souls
Some bought, some sold
We bargained, we traded, we wasted away
We were left with ashes to hold
I cruised down the road to nowhere
Never bothering to add up the cost
I recklessly traveled the streets in my state
Unaware that lives would be lost
"Come on, let's take a ride"
I wheeled in the traffic of pleasure
The rush and the push; me and mine
I drove without a care, without direction
And I rolled through every stop sign
I laughed it up with my companions
"Live for the moment," we cried
I was oblivious to the inevitable crash
That would endanger those close by my side
"You better hold on"
I sped downhill past Mayhem
Heading for hell in a race
I found myself skidding out of control
It's then I prayed for God's grace
I gave Him control of my conveyance
And He answered my prayer timely said
"Thank You, Lord"
My course and destination were reversed
And He delivered me to Eden instead
Now I travel down the road of life
"Let's go"
And I'm mindful of the wreckage roadside
"Could have been me"
I note the signature plate that identifies the ruins
It's vanity, it lies with pride
"And so it goes"
