Patch & Noodle - Crescent Moon Chair Lyrics

What? No, they weren't like that at all
I think they were more computer than flesh, they were nice
They told me Earth was the first sign of life they had encountered
And that meant a lot to them
They asked me if I would like to come aboard
I said, "Hell f*ckin' yeah"
Then one of them touched me
And I filled with fire

Then I was standing in a room which had a hum to it
And a soft light which seemed more like a warm breeze
We started walking, I think, upwards
But I soon forgot about orientation
They lead me to a slowly rotating room
And presented me to a being in a crescent moon chair
Floating in the centre of the empty turning space
Even the light here was turning

It looked at me for a long time without moving or making a noise
But then I think if blinked
And the light softly buffeting my hoody slowed down
It spoke in cracks and clicks and scratches
Then the single point of light on it's forehead glared at me
Turning an angry red
I didn't want to be under it's gaze
I felt myself shrinking away from the being

And the others seemed to sense this so took me away
They apologised
Telling me that it was a mistake to bring me to [REDACTED]
They wanted to ask me questions about our beliefs
About why we had allowed our planet to decline into ecological disaster
They asked why we fought one another
And why we allowed others to starve
They said violence turns culture sour

They said religion was redundant
They said one's planet was the only sacred ground there is
And difference is what makes a species strong
Then I filled with fire and was standing outside your front door, Sir

I think they wanted me to tell you something else
Something important
They said
[REDACTED]
