Sun dips low, the skies ablaze
Quiet roads call higher aims
Each siren cry, a guide in the night
We find our strength in the Lord's sight
Celebrate the day, whatever comes, 'neath the warm Southern sun
Count every star, near and far, where the slow rivers run
Sing out loud, from the heart, for each new dawn's early light
This is the day, come what may, that the Lord's made just right
First call out, it's a heart attack
The race begins, no time to look back
Through cars and lights, a desperate fight
Saving a soul from the edge of night
Next comes a call, close to dawn
A narrow miss, a newborn fawn
A minor crash, in morning light
A mother's tears, her child is alright
Celebrate the day, whatever comes, 'neath the warm Southern sun
Count every star, near and far, where the slow rivers run
Sing out loud, from the heart, for each new dawn's early light
This is the day, come what may, that the Lord's made just right
The night gives way to the blue of dawn
Weary but fulfilled, we pass the baton
Celebrate each day, not dismayed
This is the day the Lord has made
