Richard Melvin Brown - Proud Young Soldier Lyrics

Richard Melvin Brown - Proud Young Soldier Lyrics

He went to war in 64 before she reached age one
He fought for freedom in the air his tour had just begun
He crashed to earth while trapped inside a flaming hot jet bomber
She later learned that Vietnam was where she lost her father

He died a proud young soldier in a hostile foreign land
While fighting for his Country and his love for Uncle Sam
The memory of his wartime death for some fades more each day
But the proud young soldier in her heart will never pass away

The year was 1991 the Gulf War was going strong
His troop was on a mission near an angry rival throng
While in the line of fire tending bravely to another
Death struck again in Desert Storm this time it was her brother

He died a proud young soldier in a hostile foreign land
While fighting for his Country and his love for Uncle Sam
The memory of his wartime death for some fades more each day
But the proud young soldier in her heart will never pass away

In time the war on terror took armed forces to Iraq
Where he and others like him fought to thwart off each attack
While patrolling streets in Baghdad snipers shot them one by one
And Iraqi freedom gunfire took away her only son

He died a proud young soldier in a hostile foreign land
While fighting for his Country and his love for Uncle Sam
The memory of his wartime death for some fades more each day
But the proud young soldier in her heart will never pass away
He died a proud young soldier in a hostile foreign land
While fighting for his Country and his love for Uncle Sam
The memory of his wartime death for some fades more each day
But the proud young soldier in her heart will never pass away
No the proud young soldier in her heart will never pass away
