A beautiful white dog in the parked car,
In the shade of jacaranda tree in bloom,
Purple flower petals fall and gather at the curb,
And the air smells sweet,
Like a perfumed woman walking alone,
In the hills above the street,
I step over a dead palm frond,
The dog don't notice me,
But I can see it running round,
In the dust by the reservoir.
No more clarity,
Squinting through afternoon sun,
The sweaty collar of my shirt,
Past the landscapers,
Past the housekeepers,
And all the cactus gardens growing right
On through the fences,
And the flowers, over high walls,
And the houses, all the way,
Down, down, down,
And I can see downtown and I like it.
I'm on foot and no one else,
Take a look and no one else,
I'm on foot and no one else,
Take a look and no one else.
