Slash - Orgy Of The Damned Lyrics

Crossroads

[ Featuring Gary Clark Jr. ]

Mmm, hey
Ah, let's go

Well, I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
Well, I asked the Lord above for mercy, take me if you please, uh

I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
Ooh, I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
Well, nobody seem to know me, everybody pass me by
C'mon

Ooh, yeah
I'm going down to Rosedale, take my ride up on my side, uh
Oh, I'm going down to Rosedale, take my ride up on my side, yea-yeah
Well, we can still bare a house, babe
Down on the riverside, woo
Woo-hoo

You can run, you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
Run, you can run, you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
Yeah, and I'm standing at the crossroads
I believe I'm sinkin' down

Ooh, whoa, yeah, woo
Woo

Down in the cross-, the crossroads, yeah
Whee-yea-yeah
Sweet

Hoochie Coochie Man

[ Featuring Billy F Gibbons ]

The gypsy woman told my mother
'Fore I was born
"You got a boy child's comin'
Gon' be a son of a gun
He gonna make pretty womens
Jump and shout
Then the world wanna know
What this all about"

But you know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Well, you know I'm the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him

I got a black cat bone
I got a mojo too
I got the John the Conqueror
I'm gonna mess with you

I'm gonna make you, girl
Lead me by my hand
Then the world will know
I'm a hoochie coochie man

But you know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Well, I'm the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him

Oh, hold on, alright

On the seventh hour
On the seventh day
On my seventh month
The seven doctors say
"He was born for good luck"
And that you'll see
I got seven hundred dollars
Don't you mess with me

Because they know I'm him
Everybody knows I'm him
Well, you know I'm the hoochie coochie man
Everybody knows I'm him
Oh, yeah

Oh, yeah
Woo

Yeah

Oh Well

[ Featuring Chris Stapleton ]

Can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty, and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well

Now when I talked to God I knew he'd understand
He said, "Stick by me, and I'll be your guiding hand"
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Oh well

Now when I talked to God I knew he'd understand
He said, "Stick by me, and I'll be your guiding hand"
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Key To The Highway

[ Featuring Dorothy ]

Yea-yeah, hey
One, two

Yeah, I got the key to the highway
Billed out and bound to go
Gonna leave here running
Walking is much too slow

Yeah, I'm going back to the border
Baby, where I'm better known, yeah
'Cause you know you haven't done nothing, baby
But drove a good man from home

Yeah, when the moon peeks over the mountains
Little girl, I'll be on my way
I'm gonna roam this highway
Until the break of day
Yes, I will

Just give me one, one more kiss, baby
Ooh, just before I go
'Cause when I leave this time, baby
I won't be back no more
Oh, no, no more

I got the key to the highway
Billed out and bound to go
Ooh, I'm gonna leave here running, babe
Walking is much too slow

Now give me one, one more kiss, baby
Yeah, before I say goodbye
Yeah, I'm gonna run this highway
Until the day I die, yeah

Oh, my baby
One more
Bay-baby
Alright
Baby
Ohh-oh, oh, yea-yeah
Before I go, yea-yeah

Awful Dream

[ Featuring Iggy Pop ]

Have you ever looked over a mountain
One you ain't never seen?
Have you ever looked over a mountain
A mountain you've never seen?
Have you ever laid down in your bed
And had one of those lonesome dreams?

Sound like the world was comin' to an end
Somebody don' passed and dropped a bomb, ohh
You know they tell me this world is changin'
And there's things that shouldn't come, Lord have mercy, now, oh
But I don't know, I don't know, God knows I don't
Teach me, 'cause I don't know

You know, little bird was singing
It was cloudy, look like it was gon' rain
You know that bird was singin'
A little bird, little birdy looked like it was gon' rain
Looked like everything that happened in my time
It's all in vain

Then maybe fare thee well
You can tell by the ringin' of the bell
I don't know where I'm going
If I'm going to heaven, or hell

I don't know where I'm goin'
If I'm going to heaven
Or hell

Born Under a Bad Sign

[ Featuring Paul Rodgers ]

Born under a bad sign
I've been down since I began to crawl
If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all

Hard luck and trouble has been my only friend
I been on my own ever since I was ten

Born under a bad sign, yeah
I've been down since I began to crawl
If it wasn't for bad luck, I tell ya, I wouldn't have no luck at all

I can't read, never learned how to write
My whole life has been just one big fight

Born under a bad sign
People, I've been down since I began to crawl
If it wasn't for bad luck, oh, I wouldn't have no luck at all, no money mo'
Oh, that ain't no lie

Yeah, you know wine and women is all I crave
A sweet loving baby is gonna take me to my grave

Born under a bad sign
I've been down since I began to crawl
If it wasn't for bad luck, oh, I wouldn't have no luck at all, yeah
Justified, give it Slash

Oh
Yeah, my bad luck boys
It's gonna be alright
We're gonna make it through the day
We're gonna make it through the night
Even though if it wasn't for bad luck
If it wasn't for real bad luck
Oh, I wouldn't have no luck at all
No bad luck boys

Been my only friend
Hard luck and trouble gonna make it down to the end
Oh yeah, hellalu-yeah

Papa Was A Rolling Stone

[ Featuring Demi Lovato ]

It was the third of September
That day I'll always remember, yes, I will
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died
I never got a chance to see him
Never heard nothin' but bad things about him
Mama, I'm dependin' on you to tell me the truth
Mama just hung her head and said

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Hey, mama, is it true what they say
That papa never worked a day in his life?
Some bad talks goin' around town
Sayin' that papa had three outside children and another wife
And that ain't right
Heard some talk, papa doing some storefront preachin'
Talkin' 'bout saving souls and all the time leechin'
Dealin' in debt and stealin' in the name of the Lord
Mama just hung her head and said

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Hey, mama
I heard papa called himself a jack of all trades
Tell me is that what sent papa to an early grave?
Folks say papa would beg, borrow, steal to pay his bills
Hey, mama
Folks say papa never was much on thinkin'
Spent most of his time chasin' women and drinkin'
Mama, I'm dependin' on you to tell me the truth
Mama looked up with a tear in her eye and said

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone

Whoa-ohh-oh, yeah
Ohh-oh, yeah
Yea-yeah

Killing Floor

[ Featuring Brian Johnson ]

I should've quit you a long time ago
I shoulda quit you, baby, a long time ago
I shoulda quit you, pretty woman, and went on down to Mexico

If I had followed my first mind
If I had followed my first mind
I'd been gone, gone, gone, yeah, since my second time

I shoulda went on when my friend come from Mexico at me
I shoulda went on when my friend come from Mexico at me
But I'm not foolin' with ya, baby
I let ya put me on the killing floor

Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

God knows, shoulda been gone
Ooh, God knows, yeah, I shoulda been gone
And I wouldn't have been here down on the killing floor

And I wouldn't have been here down on the killing floor
And I would not be here down on the killing floor
Hey, now

Living For The City

[ Featuring Tash Neal ]

A boy is born in hard time Mississippi
Surrounded by four walls that ain't so pretty
His parents give him love and affection
To keep him strong, moving in the right direction
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yeah

His father works some days for fourteen hours
And you can bet, he barely makes a dollar
His mother goes to scrub the floors for many
And you'd best believe, she hardly gets a penny
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yea-yeah

His sister's black, but she is sho 'nuff pretty
Her skirt is short, but Lord, her legs are sturdy
To walk to school, she's got to get up early
Her clothes are old, but never are they dirty
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yea-yeah

Her brother's smart, he's got more sense than many
His patience's long, but soon he won't have any
To find a job is like a haystack needle
'Cause where he lives they don't use colored people
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yeah

His hair is long, his feet are hard and gritty
He spends his life walking the streets of New York City
He's almost dead from breathing in air pollution
He tried to vote but to him there's no solution
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yeah

I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow
And it motivates you to make a better tomorrow
This place is cruel, nowhere could be much colder
If we don't change, the world will soon be over
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yeah
Living just enough, just enough for the city

Living just enough, just enough for the city, yea-yeah

Living just enough for the city (yea-yeah)
Yeah, living for the city, just enough
Living for the city, just enough
Living for the city, just enough
Living for the city

(Oh-oh, baby) Just enough for the city
(Oh-oh, baby) Just enough
Living for the city, just enough
Living for the city

Stormy Monday

[ Featuring Beth Hart ]

They call it stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
They call it stormy Monday
But Tuesday, just as bad
Wednesday's the worst
Thursday's all so sad (sad)

The eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out to play
Eagle flies on Friday
Hey, hey
Saturday I go out to play
They gon' come around here and say to me
Maybe I should go to church on Sunday
And get down on my knees and pray
And hey, nah, nah, I'd rather hear somebody play
Just like that

You better play, Slash
Shit, f*ck yeah

Say, call it stormy Monday
But Tuesday's just as bad
Yeah, they call it stormy Monday
But Tuesday, just as bad
You know, Wednesday, it's gonna get worse
And Thursday, oh God, was so sad, yeah

But when the eagle flies on Friday, hey
And Saturday I gon' go out to play
Hell yeah, I do, huh, hey, hey, hey
But the eagle will fly on Friday
And Saturday I go out to play
And Sunday come around
Shit, I ain't gon' get down on my knees and pray
No way, hell no

Yeah-ay

Well, Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on me
Lord
Lord, have mercy on me
Lord, ain't have mercy on me

'Cause all you ever bring, all you ever bring
Misery, Lord, Lord, Lord

Come on, Monday
Bring on Tuesday
Don't hide Wednesday
Come on, sing it with me, Thursday
Hey, hey, hey, Friday
Yeah, I knew you, Friday
But Saturday, Saturday, I will play
I will play, all damn day
Sunday, I'm still thinkin' 'bout it
Sunday, I'm still thinkin' 'bout it
But I just might not, I just might not, I just might
Get down on my knees and pray

Oh God, that was f*cking badass shit
Badass

Orgy of the Damned is the second studio solo album by British-American musician Slash, released on May 17, 2024, through Gibson.

The album is a collaborative blues cover project with a variety of musicians and singers, including Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons, Chris Stapleton, Dorothy, Iggy Pop, Paul Rodgers, Demi Lovato, Brian Johnson, Chris Robinson, Tash Neal, and Beth Hart.

The album was preceded by the release of two singles; covers of the Howlin' Wolf song "Killing Floor" and the Fleetwood Mac song "Oh Well" were released on March 8 and April 12, 2024, respectively.

Slash's first blues works date back to 1996, when he parted ways with band Guns N' Roses and experimented with the music genre in concert tours with the group Slash's Blues Ball.

Three decades later, in 2023, he reunited with two of his former bandmates, Johnny Griparic on bass guitar and Teddy Andreadis on keys, as well as Michael Jermone on drums, to record the instrumentals of the album with producer Mike Clink at East West Studios and Snakepit Studio in Los Angeles.
