A moving truck came and left in a blink
And before I knew it, it was back in a wink
It feels like yesterday we moved in and now I'm moving on again
This isn't the pink dream house I expected
No celebration, and if there is I don't feel like celebrating
I loved growing up until I hated getting older
And little me remembers the day she realized
It seemed like it was too late, but it was far too soon
She's sitting in the backseat
Watching trees fly by
She's looking to the front seat
Trying not to cry
She holds her Bible to her chest
Closing her eyes and trying to rest
Moving makes her realize
All she wants is to slow down
Every day she wished that she'd grow up and be a shining star
And live her life for all the world to sing along in their car
To a voice that God put in her heart
And lungs that sing her dreams as art
But she dreamed right on through the growing up part
She's sitting in the backseat
Watching trees fly by
She's looking to the front seat
Trying not to cry
She holds her Bible to her chest
Closing her eyes and trying to rest
Moving makes her realize
All she wants is to slow down
She gets up on that stage
With a smile and a wave
She's right where she's always wanted to be
Though her smile's somewhat painted,
Sparkle in her eye's a little bit faded,
She's singing, "God I trust the plans you have for me"
She's sitting in the backseat
Watching trees fly by
Thinking about the next song
She's gonna write
She holds her Bible to her chest and prays,
"God I'll let you write the rest"
Moving makes her realize
Moving makes her realize
Moving makes her realize
God has great plans for her life
