Mary and Joseph are trav'ling today.
They're on a trip to Bethlehem,
Many miles away.
They're trav'ling with a donkey
To help them on their way.
Something's gonna happen tonight, my friend.
Something's gonna happen tonight.
When they get to Bethlehem here's what they are told:
"There's nothing in this town for you
All the rooms are sold.
No money's gonna help you,
No silver and no gold:
Bethlehem has no rooms tonight, my friend.
Bethlehem has no rooms tonight."
Just as they are walking away,
They hear a voice behind them say:
"I have a little stable in the back yard.
The walls may be damp
And the floor it is hard.
But you'll be better there
Than lying under the stars.
You'll be safe in there for tonight, my friend,
You'll be safe in there for tonight."
Ready for a rest after travelling all day,
They are very thankful
To settle on the hay.
The animals are gathering
To see who's come to stay!
Something's gonna happen tonight, my friend.
Something's gonna happen tonight.
Something's gonna happen tonight, my friend.
Something's gonna happen tonight.
