Tragic - February 28, 2000 Lyrics

February 28 the year is 2000
Monday getting ready for school
I grab my things
But I can't forget my Eastbay Magazine
Where me and my homies
Would do our shoe browsing
Looking at kicks that we hadn't seen
I thought my mom was sleep
So I went to school frowning
But something was off
And I couldn't shake it
I told her bye before I left
And she didn't say it
I didn't go in her room
In case she's laying naked
The whole bus ride to school
My heart was aching
Maybe I shoulda stayed home
As soon as I got to school
I used the pay phone
The line was busy
Now I'm feeling sick to my stomach
And getting dizzy
Cuz in these days
It would only be busy
If she was on a 3way
But I know she doesn't know how
Plus she was sleep when I left
I couldn't concentrate
All I could think of was of death
As I felt my heart beat out my chest
And told my friend Larry
I think somethings wrong
And i can't reach my mom on the phone
And as the day went on
I felt like a ticking bomb
In the middle of class
I'm called on the intercom
And told me come to the office
I had a phone call it was my aunt
And she was talking
Asking me about my mom
And if she was home
Her van was in the driveway
But seemed she was gone
I said she was when I left
At this point I'm just a mess
I told her come and get me
I have the key to the house
And I wanna see what this is about
The drive home was like a blur
But I'm hoping the lord
Will have my mom alive
When its time to open the door
We pull up, and my mind's racing off track
We enter the house
And I point straight to the back
To where my mom's room is
And Claire enters slow
Then comes out crying
Please tell me it isn't so
I walk in with no lies spoken
My momma was laying dead
With both eyes open
And that's the moment that my life changed
And the, source of my pain
And that's the moment that my life changed
And the source of my pain
