Today calls out to me like a lover in my bed
She speaks so softly and I heed her every word
The fear comes over me when I think of the end
Tomorrow seems so short when yesterday has yet to begin
But I can't win
Or so it seems
She only calls to me in dreams
And the future
Just seems so far away
Dreary eyes look at the clock so unforgivingly
There must be more to me than just slippin', wasting away
No need to run around at the speed of a train
A thousand miles per hour is faster than you think
And so, I sink
Into this chair
I hear her whisper in my ear
That the future
Is nothing like today
