Welcome to the madness, the land of the brave
Where every shift feels like one foot in the grave
Our scrubs bear the stains of the battles we fight
While we change out a bedpan-we're paid for this.., right?
Sutures and sarcasm, my tools of the trade
My blood, sweat, and tears in the beds I've made
I've got gloves on my hands and bags under my eyes
Saving lives while memorizing my own alibis
The pager's screaming, "It's your turn to care!"
"No time to breathe, there's need everywhere."
"This pillow's too flat" "My Wi-Fi's too slow"
Ma'am, you're here for your heart, not HBO
I'm the angel of mercy, the king of the floor
Dodging vomit and death and that guy in room four
I've got a wink for the patients, a glare for the docs
And I always carry an extra pair of grippy socks
It's guts and gallows, a balancing act
Saving your life while my sanity cracks
We laugh or we cry, there's no in-between
When your whole world's a never-ending triage scene
Mr. Smith's finger hurts; he swears he'll die
But first I've got to shove a catheter back in a guy
I'm a saint, a cynic, a jaded delight
Fueling my soul with pure caffeine might
Yet somehow in the chaos, the moments are rare
When the fog clears and someone's grateful you're there
Like the patient who smiled, or the one who survived
Little sparks of hope that keep the fire alive
It's guts and gallows, a balancing act
Saving your life while my sanity cracks
The humor runs dark, the nights run long
But we hold it together to keep others strong
There's a kid with a fever, a man turning green
A visitor yelling, "This place is obscene!"
The call lights are blinking like stars in the sky
And I'm questioning my life choices on the fly
Every alarm is a song I despise
A melody woven with groans and cries
Yet through the absurdity, somehow I find
A reason to show up-am I out of my mind?
I've seen it all, from joy to despair
From miracles blooming to butts laid bare
But in the madness, there's something divine
A fleeting reminder this calling is mine
So here's to the nights and the code brown calls
To the lives we touch and the long, bleak halls
We're the backbone of care, the last ones to break
But don't ask us to smile-it's too much to fake
