I scurry through the darkened field
The wind's too strong, my fur's my shield
The moon above, a searching eye
Lanterns sway as shadows pass by
I'm just a small thing, a heart that pounds
Running through the dirt, scared of the sounds
And these fields were made for me to roam
But every footfall shakes my home
I hear the echoes calling out
A voice that soothes when I'm full of doubt
The lanterns flicker like a fleeting hope
I chase the light just trying to cope
Lanterns in the midnight haze
Burning bright through the hunter's gaze
I find my way through trembling light
Fur on edge, I hold on tight
For every shadow that pulls me in
A lantern burns with hope to begin
I'll run these lanes till the morning comes
Chasing hope, till the darkness is done
I've seen the traps laid beneath the leaves
The snapping jaws, the crooked teeth
Still, I dart beneath the lantern's glow
Hoping to find a place unknown
To every whisper in the wind I hear
The fright takes hold, but I steer clear
With trembling paws and a wary heart
I keep running, though I fall apart
Lanterns sway like a gentle breeze
Lighting paths between the trees
I follow the glow with all my might
A tiny hope in the endless night
Lanterns in the midnight haze
Burning bright through the hunter's gaze
I find my way through trembling light
Fur on edge, I hold on tight
For every shadow that pulls me in
A lantern burns with hope to begin
I'll run these lanes till the morning comes
Chasing hope, till the darkness is done
One more leap, and I clear the stone
Heart still pounding, skin and bone
And though my fear won't ever rest
The lantern's light still burns my chest
I've been frightened, I've been lost
But I'll keep running no matter the cost
I see the light as it flickers there
A beacon bright in the midnight air
Lanterns on Leith, lighting my way
I'll run this road till the end of days
Every shadow, every fright
Burns to embers in the lantern light
To every heart that's small and scared
Lanterns burn because we dared
A thousand dreams in every step
I'll chase these lanterns till nothing's left
The lantern's glow, a fleeting sign
Guiding this small heart through the pines
I whisper low, I'll make it through
A frightened rabbit beneath skies of blue
And even when the world feels wrong
I know the lanterns will keep me strong
