Wemindji Community - Creespect Lyrics

Jii ouu st'icheem, nii ouu indistcheem
Idem ahh beesuum, beesum mawdach
Wabinu dach, kiiyah maak ishdoo

From the true north strong and free
Coming straight out of Wemindji, I'm repping for my Crees
My elders taught me about tradition and our history
My grandfather's gone, I move on knowing his spirit's free
Now my mind's at ease, I beg the Lord please
Send me flock of geese, gotta feed my family
The tree is growing so I hope that life gets better
I gotta keep on going, getting through the stormy weather

Respect the lands, give thanks to elders
I love my fam, they gave me shelter
Proud of my people, time to shake the grounds
Who keep the culture, create the sounds
I write these words, my real history
Want to be heard, across the Eeyou Istchee
Not here alone, I got my friends with me
A peaceful movement, the best victory

We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
We're Eeyou in the flesh
We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
Let us uplift the Rez

I give respect, to those who paved the way
To all the elders, who have made me brave
Let's stay strong, together like a fist
We're never wrong, if our love exists
I'm always writing, these my journal rhymes
I love my culture, I have eternal pride
The youth singing, music to my ears
Our true nature, we'll persevere

Life is a journey, we must go through it
Every step we take, keeps our souls moving
Our destination, is never ending
Gotta be brave, let's stop pretending
Put on our shoes, keep walking on
Cherish these moments, until they old and gone
Don't disrespect, where our people from
We will be ready, when the evil comes

We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
We're Eeyou in the flesh
We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
Let us uplift the Rez

You have a yearn for love, that I believe we share
You shake my hand with trust, these people seem to care
I see it in your eyes that you are growing proud and humble
I have heard about your past and oh how you've struggle
But deep inside, there exists a broken heart
That's hoping for today's youth to outgrow the scars
I know it's hard, but please take this as a gesture
One step at a time, we're striving for the better

We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
We're Eeyou in the flesh
We're looking for some Creespect, Creespect
Let us uplift the Rez
