I cannot be as you would wish
I live within the grey
Sameness is a nightmare
And faceless is cliche
I have no desire to adhere
Nor to capitulate
I'm not one to conform
Although I often imitate
I'm my own validation
I don't care if I am sane
I'd rather the uncertainty that
Some joy is worth the pain
With no belief in "special"
But with knowledge quite distinct
I decline to "drink the Kool-Aid"
And I'll keep the way I think
The Grey Matters
My thoughts and patterns make me
The greys matter
Undyed, uncovered- they age me
My grey matter
Are cells, all addled, yet free
The Grey Matters are what matters to me
Here in the grey
