YGT - Soliloquy Lyrics

YGT - Soliloquy Lyrics

What you mean you gon drop an EP
Tee, please. You can't be serious
Come on, Are you hearing this
Take a step back, you might be delirious
But I'm curious
You think you measure up with these lyricists
Like J.Cole, or Kendrick, Gambino
What you got to offer that either of those three don't
What perspective or wisdom can you bring
What life experience that goes deeper than rhyme scheme
My thing
Is even though you've been writing
Since preteens
And you claim you confiding
In these beats
It always feel like you lying
So please Tee
Tell the class what you hiding
Here I go talking to myself again
Dramatic monologues
Like I'm acting out Shakespearean
Writing thoughts while there ain't nobody listening
Imma put 'em out but I doubt the people listen in
Or maybe I'm just cynical
That negativity typical
Always so critical
Questioning when I pen every syllable
Way I argue with myself
You would think that I was clinical
Battling with whether this is permissible
Like is it appropriation if it ain't recreational
To profit it is
I don't think it's debatable but
What if this blows up? I heard fame is insatiable
Don't wanna let my love fall through the cracks
While I'm chasing the mountaintop and everything it attracts
Cause this ain't the bread and I mean it
Matter fact if I ever make a mil from this
I'll give away 800 stacks
To these communities and families that need it
All in the name of Hovah, bringing Hope of the Healer
Show 'em it's all love what I bump through they speakers
Show 'em it's all love what I bump through they speakers
But that's me living in a fantasy
Honestly, I feel I'm just exploring my vanity
I'm writing this project, it feels like insanity
I'm putting out these stories
And I'm showing my hand to these
People I hold close, and people I ain't met
Pulling back the curtain, first look at the set
Prolly hear some things you ain't know about me yet
When I put it that way to me it feels like a threat
But creativity is vulnerability
When you showing your art
You showing your heart and it can be
Frightening when they judge your abilities
But I'd rather be real than protect insecurities
So if this process reveal some impurities
Then it's working
After all, I am sure that these
Songs that I'm writing bringing growth and security
In who I am
I think they call that maturity

Searched so long tryna find my identity
Struggling to hold on to my sanity
Needed something that would bring me serenity
Elohim gave a gift, now I write these soliloquies
Said, searched so long tryna find my identity
Struggling to hold on to my sanity
Needed something that would bring me serenity
Elohim gave a gift
Now I write these soliloquies, yeah
Said Elohim gave a gift
Now I write these soliloquies
