Leo Papa - The Harmony Sovereign Lyrics

Leo Papa - The Harmony Sovereign Lyrics

Daniel McNally, lived in Virginia
Settled down by the river, with his wife and his kids
For twenty odd years, the land was forgiving
They eked out a living, till it all hit the skids
Had a Harmony Sovereign, the scars showed the love
And late in the evening, he'd take time to strum
Singing songs of the suffering, the pain and the hurt
As he played out his time, and it all went to dirt
He'd wake up each morning, and throw on a shirt
For the sake of his loved ones, and head out to work
He was sore in the back, and thin in the purse
As he grew ever doubtful, of what it's all worth
Had a Harmony Sovereign, the scars showed the love
And late in the evening, he'd take time to strum
Singing songs of the suffering, the pain and the hurt
As he played out his time, and it all went to dirt
Daniel McNally, liked to work on his Harley
Took care of the family, stood on his own feet
Now they get by with handouts, to help make ends meet
With the big corporations, they could not compete
There was fruit that was ripe, there was fruit that was rotten
To remind him about, all the things he'd forgotten
Green pastures and sunshine, the death of a foal
And no way to predict, what the future would hold
And his Harmony Sovereign, still shows all the love
When its late in the evening, and he takes time to strum
Singing songs of the suffering, the pain and the hurt
As he plays out his time, and it all goes to dirt
Things aren't the same, since the wife passed away
The kids have moved on, there's not much to say
It's the law of the jungle, our economy
In the home of the brave, and the land of the free
