Daniel McNally, lived in Virginia
Settled down by the river, with his wife and his kids
For twenty odd years, the land was forgiving
They eked out a living, till it all hit the skids

For the sake of his loved ones, and head out to work
He was sore in the back, and thin in the purse
As he grew ever doubtful, of what it's all worth

And no way to predict, what the future would hold

The kids have moved on, there's not much to say
